What do you think of when you picture a Christmas bauble with a photograph inside? A nice memento, sure, but too often let down by the cheap-looking plastic that is not built to last. They are usually ‘insert-your-own-image’ types that you could pick up from most discount stores in the festive period.

In my little independent boutique ‘Dog Store’ in Kent, my customers were looking for quality ornaments with a photo memory of their dogs to keep for years after they have passed, or even something they could proudly give as a gift for someone else.

After scouring the internet and failing to find something that I could buy at wholesale, I decided to work on creating something myself using the computer design skills that I already had. I felt confident I knew what was needed from these ornaments as I wanted it too! After working on my creation for a number of months, I put a display of my newly created baubles up for sale in my store in 2019, and was impressed by the sales I received. When COVID-19 hit in 2020, my shop had to close. My baubles became a personal glimmer of hope as they began to sell globally and in large numbers on our Etsy page by Christmas 2020. I was overjoyed: baubles saved my little shop! I'm forever grateful for the shop small efforts of people, who saved businesses like mine in a difficult time.

It is a pleasure to create special keepsakes for your home, and I love getting to know people from around the world - customers from Hawaii and Canada, Australia and South Africa, to 10 miles down the road from me in England. Here's a photo of me with my Border Collie below, and the bauble I like to hang on my tree each Christmas. There's also a photo of my office, where the magic all began.
